Bi-Polar Camellias - The Roses of Winter...

This is one of the better examples of my"Bi-Polar" - hi-jacked SUPER hybrid camellias - You can SEE the pure Snow-White & VIVID Lipstick hot pinks she was borne of! The plant TRIES to REVERT back to it's pre-grafted hybrids so we have LOADS of everything from the darrrrkk solidly striped hot pink blooms - to nearly translucent white solid blooms & everything in between on ONE bush!! I train my camellias to grow into tree-form / topiaries. So they are bare at they're "trunks" & perfectly ROUNDED out at their "tree-tops"! This one is over 7 feet tall now & spreads about 6-8 feet at her fulllest point. You'd THINK that whacking these beauties constantly shaping & plucking the new growth to maintain the topiary shaping would KILL them - or prevent them from blooming. NEITHER is the case!

I basically "cut" Lisa & George out of a sorta kinda flowery city park {yawnnn} photo & since she's wanting a more Angelic / Faerie flavour... I think this pretty well did BOTH... It still needs some tweaking ... But - we're on the right "ethereal" track anyway.

The Tale of "Smell B"... A Love Story

This is a Love Story a BEST Friend wrote in the last 2 days as a 10th birthday gift for her DD - The REAL "EmyLu"... She sent me a photo of the child enrobed & dreaming away in her favorite if odiferous friend, & asked if I could DO something with it to make it like a faint memory or "dream" ... Well - That's RIGHT up © The Dream Spinner's alley alrighty!!! And here is the tale & the final dreamstate "photo" of EmyLu & "The Tale of Smell B - A Love Story For My Daughter" - By my Friend, Barbara Webster... I hope you enjoy it!

Smell B started as a collection of bits in the scrap bag. She was to be a quilt for Kimmy Jean.
The woman cut and stitched and held her head just so, until Smell B was finished.
Smell B was yellow and pink and calico. She was pretty, her colors bright and vibrant, her patterns vivid and sharp.
Kimmy Jean liked Smell B fine.
Alas, as it sometimes goes, Kimmy Jean grew and lost her need of childish things.
One day she went off to school and never again thought of Smell B when she was frightened or sad.
Smell B sat in the daycare cubby for years, and years…
And years.
The children passed her by for brighter newer quilts. Quilts with Thomas the Train or Dora.
She waited and waited…
And waited.
One day she heard a mewling, the woman held a bundle. The woman stepped toward the cubby, rifling through the quilts.
This had happened before. The woman always overlooked her.
She was not new; she was of calico and not of Dora.
There was something about the sound from the bundle. Smell B hoped the woman would not over look her this time.
She called to the bundle;
“Choose me, choose me, I will love you best of all”
Smell B felt herself drawn from the cubby and gently swaddle the infant. Her now soft folds and muted colors a perfect fit.
She came to know the baby as Margaret Eugenia Lucinda Rose, but she called her EmyLu.
Smell B loved EmyLu, they grew inseparable.
She didn’t mind her corners used to wipe EmyLu’s face, or that she was folded in a roll to prop her up in the swing. She had EmyLu to cuddle and hold when she was frightened or lonely.
It was enough.
EmyLu loved Smell B too. She took her to Pre School and Arizona and to her brothers wedding. She took her to check the cows and on long trips with the family. Smell B held EmyLu, looked out the window and was very happy.
Over the years the woman made new quilts for EmyLu. They were bigger and brighter, the latest thing, but they were not Smell B.
As EmyLu grew, Smell B shrunk, her corners frayed, her center disappeared.
EmyLu never let her love for Smell B shrink or disappear. She couldn’t sleep without her soft embrace. If security had a fragrance it is that of Smell B when EmyLu tucked her under her nose and drifted off.
One day the woman cleaned in EmyLu’s room. Smell B waited under the pillow, a small tattered bundle of indistinguishable fluff. She was dirty and full of holes. She smelled…bad.
The woman gathered her up and carted her to the trash.
Smell B was old and tired, she had no strength.
Her middle was gone.
She would miss Margaret Eugenia.
She wondered if Margaret Eugenia would miss her too, when she was frightened or sad.
She felt the woman carry her to the barrel. The woman held her up and gave her a little toss…
And put her in this book for EmyLu to have for ever and always.

It's Beginning To Look Like - CHRISTMAS - 2006!!!

This is the Christmas gift I JUST finished making for my Honey this year! Money was too tight to gift without going into debt again... & since I collect TONS of these wonderful graphics collections... All I hadda DO - was make a B&W lineart drawing of one of my newest FAVES - from the collection of Daisie Company's Premier Graphic Artist - Gina Jane Johnson's NEW "Christmas Eve" set - Available at: www.daisiecompany.com/

I'm no artist by any stretch... But with a few GREAT graphics programs & one to blow 'em up to ANY size I want - Dragonfly's "Glass Eye -2000" at: www.dragonfly.com/ - It's a CINCH to print them out on ANY home inkjet printer & glue the pieces together - This pattern was ONLY 30 sheets of printer paper!

Then just transfer the pattern with graphite paper ... Et Voila' - Instant almost graphic artiste!
Not TOO shabby for someone who cannot draw a recognizeable STICKMAN without a pattern to guide me!!!

There wasn't much colour left on the trees anywhere in here - but the water was nice to watch & LISTEN to for a little while. The ponds look like blackwater here in the Central Ga. area... And the COLOURS just .... Utterly defy description! I could sit here & just watch the light walk across this scene for hours & hours... A quick break in the mist & then THIS striking vista was awaiting discovery. Most of the leaves have already fallen here ... But every now & again there's a peek to take your breath & marvel at. Be still & just - breathe it all in...
